Q: What is the procedure for requesting my Criminal Record and Judicial Matters check (CRJMC)?

You have two options:

Q: What do I need to provide for a CRJMC? (i.e. identification)

When first contacting us for your CRJMC request, you do not need to provide any ID documents.

Once you complete and sign the consent forms, you may need to provide two pieces of valid ID. The list of acceptable IDs can be found here.

Q: What is the cost?

$35 + 13% HST ($4.55) = $39.55

Q: What are the turnaround times?

Once you complete and sign the consent forms, it may take up to 2 business hours to get your results.

Q: What is your method of payment?

Payments are done online via our self-payment portal. We primarily accept credit cards.

Q: If I do not have a credit card, how can I pay?

You can pay via E-transfer. Please reach out to our office by phone or email to request the banking details

Q: What does the result “NEGATIVE, POSSIBLE, INCOMPLETE and RECOMMENDED mean?

Your results may indicate the following:

  • No conviction on file / no conviction declared
  • Charges outstanding on CPIC therefore before the courts; however NOT YET CONVICTED
  • Absolute & conditional discharge dispositions
  • Young Offender convictions
Negative / Further Check Recommended
  • Charges outstanding on CPIC therefore before the courts; however NOT YET CONVICTED
  • Offence is investigative category
Possible
  • Declaration matches what is on CRII (RCMP list of convictions)
  • CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre) investigative databank indicates applicant on probation or intermittent sentence but not yet formed a part of CRII history (RCMP up to 18 months behind on adding conviction information
Incomplete
  • Charges that have been disclosed but don’t need to be (i.e. conditional or absolute discharges or withdrawn charges)
  • Declaration of offences that do not “match” offence category (i.e. discloses assault and it was sexual assault conviction, discloses drugs but was a possession of stolen property conviction)
  • If the year of conviction is off by 3 or more years, or if they don’t self[1]declare any convictions and they have convictions on file
  • Declared Young Offender, but not required to due to non-disclosure rules
  • Conviction for drug offences outside schedule (i.e. possession of controlled substance-marihuana but conviction was for possession of controlled substance-cocaine)
  • If location of conviction not in the proper province (i.e. Ontario vs Quebec)
  • NOTE: Another possibility for incomplete would be if date of birth declared by applicant does not match the RCMP records (i.e. transposition errors) we will attempt to confirm it via other avenues so that we can confirm the information
  • FPS (Finger Print Serial) number generated and no disposition on file and unable to confirm disposition on CPIC (i.e. no disposition in the CRII but there is a Probation on CPIC for a suspended sentence etc.)

Q: What happens if my result is INCOMPLETE?

If you did not self-declare any convictions on first opportunity, you have the option to do so by filling and submitting a self-declaration manually.

A reconsideration can then be run at no cost. If the information provided is accurate, the results may be updated to POSSIBLE.

Q: Is this for a renewal or first-time check?

Both

Q: Will Service Ontario accept my check if it’s an INCOMPLETE or RECOMMENDED?

Please contact Ministry of Service Ontario regarding “exceptions” for these results.

Q: Can you come to our offices to do the request in person?

We do not accept walk-ins.

Q: What is the next step to apply for my security license?

Q: My application at Ontario Services was rejected. It said that they do not accept third-party checks.

Our checks are valid and have been used by many applicants to apply or renew their security guard license. If yours was rejected, please keep a copy of the rejection letter/email and call us. We can try to escalate the issue on your behalf.
